Domaine Jean-Baptiste Boudier Pernand-Vergelesses Blanc 2022

The Pernand-Vergelesses Blanc comes from just under a hectare of west facing parcels at higher elevation which include many old vines. Quite floral in its aromas with hints of lime and apple. The palate balances a textural richness with a tension and energy provided by brisk acid.  

This is a quality white Burgundy at a very reasonable price. 

Young Jean-Baptiste Boudier started farming small plots of vines in Pernand-Vergelesses in 2015, which were made available to him from his parents' larger estate, whose farming Jean-Baptiste felt was too conventional. Though not certified, farming is essentialy organic. Grapes are direct pressed with whole clusters and fermented initially in steel and finished in barrels with ambient yeasts. The wine is aged 15 months in oak barrels about 20% of which are new. Minimal sulfur is added at bottling.
