Lopez de Heredia, Rioja Alta, Tondonia 2012 375ml

Lopez de Heredia is one of Spain’s most revered wineries, producing traditional, age-worthy Rioja wines using time-honored methods that date back over 130 years. All of their wines come exclusively from estate-grown fruit, including the renowned Viña Tondonia vineyard, known for its limestone-rich soils and organically farmed old vines. Wines are released only after long aging—often 5 to 10 years—adding exceptional depth and elegance to their Crianzas and Gran Reservas. The winery itself, begun in the late 1800s, is a striking architectural landmark, often called a "cathedral to wine," where history and craftsmanship are palpable in every stone and bottle.

A blend of 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacho, 5% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo. The wine ferments in the original wooden vats present at the winery since its foundation. After malolactic the wine is transferred to very old American oak and rests on the mythical galleries of the winery in Haro. It is bottled unfined and rests again in the glass until released, usually 10+ years after harvest.
